Aqida
How much did the Sohaba care about the Muslim faith?
~
Those lions of Islam, the wonderful companions of the Prophet ﷺ, sacrificed everything they could to protect the Aqeedah of Muslims. Let’s look at a story to prove this. Abul Aliyah says: “When we opened the city of Tuster, we found a bed with a corpse in the treasury of Hurmuzan.” … We dug thirteen separate graves during the day and buried him in (one of them) at night. Then we fixed all the burials (similarly from the ground) so that it would not be separated for fear of people taking it out.
“What do you want from him?” When asked, “When there is a drought, they take the bed out and pray for rain,” Abul Aliyah said.
“Who do you think the man is?” When they were called, they said, “His name is Daniel.” “What happened to him if he died when you found him?” They said, “It has been three hundred years.”
“What has changed from him?” They said, “Nothing has changed except for a few hairs around the brain.” They said, “He will not eat the flesh of prophets.” [Al-Maghazi, Ibn Ishaq: 6]
Ibn al-Qayyim, may Allah have mercy on him, says this under this story:
“In this story, what the Muhajirs and Ansar did was to keep his grave from being separated so that people would not be tempted by it, not to make it clear that they should pray to him and seek blessings from him.” If the latecomers had found him, they would have put him to the sword. They used to worship him besides Allah. Indeed, they have idols of graves that are not comparable to this and are not close to it. Servants assigned to them. They also made them places of worship more than mosques.
If making dua at graves, offering prayers there, and seeking blessings from them had a legacy, or if it was Sunnah, or if it was permissible, the Muhajirs and Ansar would have made this burial an example of such an act. They used to pray to him. They used to do it for the generation that came after them. But they knew Allah, His Messenger and His religion better than the evil successors who came after them. The Prophets who followed them well also traveled on the same path. When they were in abundance, the graves of the Companions from them were abundant in every country. None of them went to the funeral of the Companions and asked for help, begged him, was blessed by him, asked for healing, rain, and help from him.” [Igasatul Lehfan: 1/202-203]
But after that, they were replaced by evil substitutes who reigned in shirk, incited monotheism, broke their word, and flowed with their emotions. Look at the understanding of the Companions. Then consider our generation. Today’s funeral worshipers, when they stop at the funeral, who do they think of? The teachings of the Prophet ﷺ were a sword for such a system of God, a sharp sword! Abu Waqid Alaysi Radiyallahu Anhu says:
“We went up to Hunain with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. It was the last time we came out of apostasy. (We are new arrivals.) We passed by a Kurkurra tree. Then he said, ‘O Messenger of God! We said, ‘Make this a gallows for us, as you have made a gallows for the bridegrooms.’ The Prophet ﷺ said ‘Allahu Akbar! I swear by my soul in his hand! You said the same thing as the children of Israel said to Moses: ‘Make gods for us as they (the polytheists) have gods!’ He said to them: ‘You are a people who do not know.’ You are actually following in the footsteps of people before you!’ are there.” [Zilalul Janah: 1/31]
Abu Bakr al-Attorushi says this under this hadith: “Look then, Allah has taken care of you.” Wherever you find a kurkurra or any other tree where people think about it, respect it, think about healing and medicine, where nails and pieces of cloth are hung, cut it down because it is a threat!” [Al-Hawadis Wolbide: 38] In our country, as in other countries, there are many trees – zatu anawats – where knife threads are sprinkled, butter is spread, passers-by rested on for blessing, they gather for supplication, and slaughter is carried out – even today.
Even today, in the so-called civilized world, idolatry is spread among people who say “Lailaha Illallah”. There is still a generation among us today that worships useless clay saying, “My mother’s life has been saved.” A traveler in our country, especially in the rural areas, will find many worshiped trees, stones, graves, etc. in every area. The one who kisses these things, prays, makes amends, applies butter, binds a blade, slaughters, throws stones at a place he does not know the nature of, and piles stones… is death. We must fight this bastard to the last drop of blood.
