The Ethiopian thing has reached here
Eight people told me that during the terrible fire at Mercato Shema, several firefighters were negotiating with the shopkeepers over money. After arriving at the location, he asked, “Who are we talking to?” instead of putting out the fire. These witnesses claim that it took them several minutes to start extinguishing. After all, who did they haggle with to obtain the money they wanted? Even though this is common, I didn’t expect all of this property to be destroyed. According to the media’s understanding, the firefighters who arrived on the scene in an ambulance agreed to take 4 million. The people who paid Birr were shop owners at the time and they had no choice but to pay what was asked because they had property worth millions of Birr in the shops.
I feel that not all of them committed this act, but a few among the firemen who did not see the destruction of human property and denied their profession.
One may try to pass off the case as a “fake”, but what will help is to send an investigation team to the spot and bring these shameful culprits to justice.
It’s a shame!
